Texas Fiddle Club is a group class for string students who want to explore the exciting world of old-time, folk, and fiddle music in a fun and welcoming setting. Inspired by my time performing in Dallas with the old-time band Idy Red, this class brings the tradition of Appalachian and American folk music to life—right alongside creative classical-folk arrangements and soulful waltzes.
Whether your child is brand new to their instrument or already jamming away, Texas Fiddle Club offers a refreshing, community-focused way to grow musically, learn new styles, and enjoy the power of group playing.

What We Play & Who We Are
- Old-time fiddle tunes from the American and Appalachian traditions
- Waltzes and reels with rich harmonies and groovy rhythm
- Fun classical-folk arrangements designed to teach both style and technique
- Simple improvisation and expression activities to boost creativity
This isn’t your average string class- we’ll dive into rhythm, groove, ear training, and ensemble collaboration, all while building confidence and having a blast.
Who can join?
- Violin, viola, and cello students of all levels and ages are welcome.
- I will match students into groups based on age and ability to make sure each group is well-balanced and fun for everyone.
- No prior fiddling experience required- just a love of music and a sense of adventure!

Students will also get the chance to explore alternate styles, learn by ear, and even see my Tommy Jarrell-style flat-bridge fiddle in action- yes, it has special pegs and everything!
